Charlie Thompson is the president and publisher of American Trade Magazines LLC. Based in Chicago, American Trade Magazines publishes three national publications: American Coin-Op, American Drycleaner and American Laundry News.
Mr. Thompson joined American Trade Magazines, then owned by Crain Communications, in 1989 as midwestern sales manager and was later promoted to national sales manager in 1994. In 1997, he was named associate publisher and, one year later, named publisher and vice president of the group in 1998. As publisher, Mr. Thompson has overall responsibility for editorial, production, circulation, promotion and sales operations.
Active in a number of professional associations, his memberships include the Textile Care Allied Trade Association, American Reusable Textile Association, Textile Rental Services Association, American Hotel and Lodging Association, International Drycleaners Congress and the National Association of Institutional Laundry Management.
Mr. Thompson comes from a family spanning three generations in publishing. He graduated with a bachelor of journalism from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
Editorial Director Bruce Beggs has been the editor of American Laundry News since 1999. He is now responsible for the editorial content for all three publications, utilizing the diverse talents of industry experts and freelance contributors.
National Sales Director Donald Feinstein oversees all advertising sales for the group’s print publications and digital media products. Feinstein joined Crain Communications in 1996 and helped produce a dozen business and trade publications over several years. He joined ATM in 2001 as the group’s production manager, overseeing the transition to an all-digital workflow. In 2005, he moved into ad sales and became Eastern regional sales manager.
Nathan Frerichs is a web developer with a love and respect for front-end web design and all things shiny, tech-y, gizmo-ish, and/or widget-y.
Nathan has been running the ATM websites since 2010. Soon after joining the team, he brought all of the web design and development in-house, enhancing ATM’s ability to report the industry’s news immediately and precisely, innovate new tools and products, and create more powerful relationships with and between readers and advertisers.
Prior to seeing the world in 1s and 0s, Nathan dabbled in advertising, reportage, graphic design, and photography. When away from the ATM offices, he spends his time learning not-yet-released web stuff, playing with his son, and trying to remember what his wife told him not to do.
